ANNOUNCEMENTS

Summer Overview

“A weaver is a dreamer consenting to dream of the actual world.”  George Santayana

Do you know why WEBS is called WEBS?  If you’re a weaver, you surely do, but what about the rest of you fiber artists out there?  This summer, we would like to put the spotlight on weaving and invite those of  you who already knit, crochet, felt, spin, dye, quilt, bead, rug-hook, embroider, etc., to give weaving a try.  We are offering 3 classes aimed at beginners, Rigid Heddle Flip Loom, Weaving Intensive and Saori Weaving.  If you take any one of them, you will quickly find out what a “web” is, but here’s a clue...remember this one? “Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.”
For those of you who already weave, we are offering Huck Lace with our own Scott Norris and Rug Weaving with Jason Collingwood.
Now that we are also WEBS-America’s Bead Store, we are pleased to announce the return of Judy Pascale, one of our all-time favorite guest instructors, who will offer a small Beaded Purse and share with us her awesome no pre-stringing beading technique.
In addition to weaving and beading, we are, of course, offering a variety of knitting classes as well as a new Crochet Intensive and a Summer of Spinning with Barbara Parry.  Fiber Camp for Kids returns for its second year as well.
If you are as passionate about fiber as we are, WEBS summer classes are the place to be!  Come join us during the lazy, hazy, crazy days of June, July and August.  We guarantee you’ll have a wonderful time!

Spinning Group
An informal spinning group meets on the first Tuesday of each month, from 7:00pm - 9:00pm at WEBS. All are welcome. If you have questions, please contact Diane Roeder at 413-586-4822 or diane@sojournersheep.com. The group meets year round.

Pioneer Valley Weavers
Our local weaving guild has been in existence for many years.  The guild meets on the second Tuesday of the month (September - June), from 7pm - 9:30pm at WEBS.  The guild offers interesting programs, study groups, and much more. If you are interested in becoming a member or would like more information, please contact Sue McFarland at 413-369-4631 or Sue Powers at 413-367-2082 or visit the guild’s website at www.pioneervalleyweavers.org.  Newcomers welcome at every meeting!

Fall Knitting Forecast
Look for the return of Susanna Hansson on October 17 - 20.  We are still narrowing down which workshops she will do, but you can bet they will be awesome!  The following weekend, October 24 - 25, we will welcome Galina Khmevela, founder of Skaska Designs Limited, who specializes in teaching Orenburg lace techniques.  We are delighted that these two shining lights of the knitting world will be joining us here at WEBS.  Mark your calendars now!

Bead Store News
WEBS – America’s Bead Store is now located right on Service Center Road, next to Smith Glass.  Our expert staff is excited to meet all of our wonderful customers and help you with your bead selections for your fiber projects.  We will be offering many classes in the months to come.  This summer is a great time to give beading a try.  Our Mini-Basics class is a quick 2  hour introduction to the world of beaded jewelry making.  There will be many different technique classes offered as well.  Please stop in, check out our incredible selection of beads, findings and tools and be sure to say hi to Alison, Cynthia, Janet, Sky and Sarah!

REGISTRATION INFORMATION
For all classes/workshops, please send a check for the tuition or pay online to hold your place.
