A bit more expensive, but well worth the cost. Rayon chenille is spectacular woven. We recommend a sett of 12 to 16 epi. Fine gauge machine knitters can also produce wonderful fabrics with rayon chenille (We do not recommend rayon chenille this fine for hand knitting it is slippery and has no resilience, so it is most likely to stretch.)

Valley Yarns Valley Silk
Valley Silk is in the Webs permanent yarn lines. This 100% silk yarn is a 2/12.8 size, meaning it runs about 3600 yards per pound. It is essentially a yarn for weavers, but machine knitters may find it useful as well. We did several samples at 15 epi, 16 epi and 18 epi. They all yielded useful fabrics with the closest sett appearing useful for light jacket weight yardage and the lightest for blouse or dress fabrics. We finished all of the Valley Silk fabrics in the washing machine and dryer and ironed them when slightly damp.
