Temples, or stretchers, are used to keep weaving from drawing in. They are made of wood and have sharp teeth on the underside that are pushed into the edges of the fabric at the fell of the cloth to keep the fabric from drawing in. Temples are most often used for rug weaving and for fine fabric, especially for linen warp threads.
