This yarn is not anything like Merino or one of its derivative breeds. It was not made from fleece of Spain, but of the ancient northern breeds. It will feel rough against your fingers and you may think 'I would never want this against my skin!' Well, know that this yarn is not made to sit against your skin, but as a cardigan of shawl it will survive beautifully years after Merino has been destroyed by winter. It also looks. neat, to my mind.
The colors of the yarns were beautiful and I loved the little flecks of color. However, the yarn was thinner than I expected and I had to double the strands to get the stitch gauge I needed. Also, it is not very soft, but the stitch definition is great.
the skeins were incorrectly wound, with huge amounts of tangling, and I had to discard more than 1/2 of the tahki yarn I purchased this time. Most of the time Tahki yarns are superb. this time they were not. i gave it the high rate I did because the yarn was on deep discount.
I’m happy with this yarn for the most part. It’s not consistent in the size, which I typically don’t mind. Using it to crochet a piece of clothing. Some parts are incredibly thin though so I’m breaking and reattaching to avoid potential issues once the garment is complete. It felts back together well enough so I don’t have joins showing or to weave in.
This was purchased as a gift for a knitter friend. She loved the color and the texture!
Overall, I like this yarn. It is very grippy, however, which makes winding the hanks an interesting experience and lesson in patience. I just hope I don't have to frog!
Not as soft a yarn as I was hoping but like the color and tweed
great stuff
enjoy this yarn and recently doubled strands which has proved exciting. One of my favorite yarns
