Tahki donegal tweed has been a standard for years. It has wonderful colours. It knits into a warm garment
Tahki Donegal Tweed Yarn - I have been knitting happily with this yarn for years. It is a beautiful yarn, knits up easily and comes in great colors. I have mostly used Donegal Tweed for ponchos. They hold their shape and beautiful color for years.
It’s very scratchy. It feels like twine. It also breaks easily. You don’t even have to cut it. I washed the knitted piece and it softened slightly. The color is beautiful and rich.
It's too scratchy to wear.
This yarn perfectly matched some I bought in Ireland. Now I can replace the mitten I lost.
This is old-school tweedy yarn. At first touch, it feels a bit scratchy, but the fabric seems a bit softer. Nobody is going to want to wear this next to the skin, but it looks and feels like the yarns my mother used to knit with from Ireland, and I have no doubt that the sweater will be warm and wear like iron.
I was trying to match an Irish wool yarn. My mom brought me from the north of Ireland several years ago. Amazingly, this yarn match perfectly in color and weight! I was able to finish my project and you can’t even tell it was finished off with a skein of yarn purchased years later.
This yarn is so beautiful! I ordered the green, and it looked exactly how I expected when I received it. It was my first time working with single ply homespun yarn, and it took some getting used to. There’s virtually no stretch when working. I just make sure let it flow freely through my fingers. It looks so beautiful in stockinette! The stitches lay flat and smooth while still having a charming homespun look. It also has a nice sheen. Be warned, this yarn is not soft at all! It’s plain old wool after all. But I made some awesome fingerless mitts out of it that are super warm and cozy! I recommend it with that in mind.
It’s scratchy but softens with a good wool wash. I like it for felting
Lovely rustic tweed yarn. Colorful neps look as I expected from picture on website. Order came quickly.
