Light and airy, Valley Yarns Southampton is a plush and super-soft blend of mohair and silk with a fabulous halo! Southampton can be worked at multiple gauges and with one to three strands, for fabrics ranging from lacy and open to more substantial. Even lacy shawls are warm when made in this yarn, which comes in spectacular solid colors that seem to glow. Southampton also works well held with another yarn to add extra softness and luxury to projects from cowls and wraps to cardigans and pullovers!

Lovely texture and generous amount of yarn
I purchased two skeins of Valley Yarns Southampton, one in color Merlot and one in color Peony. I held both of them together with a strand of ********* weight yarn and it made the most fluffy and warm shawlette that I just love so much!

Love the Valley Yarns Southampton. For my project I had to double up on the strands which made my project also double on the price, single thread was just to thin. However, the sweater came out exactly as I envisioned and feels fantastic. 72% Kid Mohair/28% Mulberry Silk = dream combination, so soft and fluffy :-)
This is a great, inexpensive alternative to the “brand name” mohair yarn. The color range is really great. I make mitts and mittens with a strand of DK and one of mohair and I see no difference at all in the feel or ease of use in the Southampton compared to the more expensive brands. I really love it.
