The Fiber Dreams Aegeria shawl starts with a long cast on, then the swirling eddies of lace are worked before the shawl is shaped by garter stitch short rows to form a pleasing crescent. Aegeria, a water nymph in Roman mythology, was a prophet and a protector of pregnant women. The graphic lace motifs in the Aegeria shawl bring to mind moving water and Roman architecture. Lace patterns are charted and written.
